Ari Lennox
Courtney Shanade Salter, also known as Ari Lennox, a Washington, D.C.-based American singer/songwriter, was signed as the label's first female artist on Dreamville Records by J. Cole. In the month of October Ari Lennox debuted her EP Pho. This was the moment that she gained recognition. Shea Butter Baby, her debut album, was released on 7 May 2019. Ari Lennox began uploading her music onto the internet in 2012 when she dropped her first mixtape, Five Finger Discount and debut EP Ariography in 2013. In 2014, she dropped additional music on the internet including Bound. The track Sweat it is featured on Omen's Elephant Eyes album which dropped on July 21 2015. J. Cole, who was part of the Dreamville crew back then, wanted to have her perform on Rihanna references. On the 8th of December, it was revealed that she had signed to Dreamville Records. The singer appeared on the album collaboratively titled Revenge of the Dreamers II on the track Backseat with Cozz. In the month of October she dropped her debut EP, Pho. Ari Lennox performed the song Change by J. Cole as well as opening The 4 Your Eyez Only Tour 2017 in which she was joined by EarthGang. She also appeared in two songs with EarthGang's Nothing but the Best song and Bas's Icarus. Ari Lennox dropped her first track Whipped Cream on Shea Butter Baby on July 16. The music video was released, followed by a music video September. In November, she dropped two singles, 40 Shades of Choke & Grampa. The 13th of November, she released two more singles called One and Pedigree. One as well as Pedigree. The singer appeared alongside Cole on The Creed II Soundtrack on Shea Butter Baby the 16th of November 16, and then released the song as a solo single for her first album. The track was accompanied by the music video which debuted on February 20 2019 that surpassed three million views via YouTube within its first seven days. She was part of 6LACK's From East Atlanta With Love Tour back in December of the year 2018.
